Richard's career journey began at IBM, where after graduating from Old Dominion University, he quickly made his mark working with Fortune 500 companies in Dallas, Texas. His passion for innovation and building strong client relationships set him apart, and after a few successful years, he transitioned to Wall Street, joining prestigious firms like Kidder Peabody & Co. and Smith Barney & Co., serving high-level executives and business owners.
One of Richard's key clients was Electronic Data Systems (EDS). Impressed by his unique blend of technology and Wall Street expertise, EDS brought him on board to drive growth through strategic acquisitions. Moving to New York City, Richard helped EDS more than double its revenue—from $6 billion to $14 billion—while managing over $500 million in revenue directly.
Richard's innovative approach, particularly his partnership with leading private equity firms like The Blackstone Group, KKR, and others, led to the development of a groundbreaking sale-leaseback strategy. This concept, which involved acquiring and leasing back IT infrastructures, was an early form of what we now know as outsourcing. His success in this area led to a similar opportunity at TRW, where he replicated the model to great effect.
Today, Richard is back to doing what he loves most—helping clients navigate financial decisions with clarity and confidence, whether they’re starting out, planning for the future, or anywhere in between.
